1.Bring dashi and sauce to the boil in medium saucepan.
2.Divide hot rice among serving bowls; top with beef, seeds and onion. Ladle over dashi mixture, taking care not to dislodge the arrangement; serve with wasabi
Freeze beef, wrapped in plastic wrap, for about an hour to make it easier to slice thinly. If sliced thin enough, the beef will cook in the hot dashi mixture. You can also brown unsliced beef in medium frying pan to add extra flavour to soup. You will need to cook 1½ cups (300g) japanese rice to make the amount required for this recipe. White fish fillets can be used instead of beef, and seven-spice mix or chilli can be used instead of the wasabi. In Japan, green tea is sometimes used for the broth instead of dashi
