1.Peel and core pears; cut each pear into eight wedges.
2.Melt butter in large frying pan, add pear; cook, stirring occasionally, until softened slightly.
3.Sprinkle sugar over pear; reduce heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil; boil 1 minute. Add liqueur and paste; cook, over high heat, about 2 minutes or until mixture is syrupy.
4.Serve pear with ice-cream; drizzle with syrup.
Made from vanilla bean extract, vanilla bean seeds, sugar and natural thickeners, vanilla bean paste can be used as a substitute for a whole vanilla bean or vanilla extract. It is available from the baking section of major supermarkets.
