How to cook miso salmon in the air fryer

Salmon cooks fast and easily in the air fryer, making it a great dinner option for busy weeknights. In this air fryer recipe we cook the miso and honey salmon pieces on top of hot microwave rice and fresh broccolini, for just 6 minutes at 200°C.

Here are our tips for this air fryer recipe:

  • We used a 7.5-litre, single-basket air fryer for this recipe. Check that the tray fits your air fryer basket before you start.
  • For easy removal, place a long strip of foil underneath the tray with each length acting as a handle to help you ease out the tray at the completion of cooking. Be careful, the air fryer basket will be hot.
  • If you have a small air fryer, cook only the salmon and vegetables directly in the air fryer basket – you don’t need a baking dish. Serve rice on the side.

Key ingredients in this miso salmon dinner

Air fryer miso salmon ingredients

Salmon fillets: Cut into generous 3cm cubes, the salmon cooks quickly and evenly in the air fryer while staying wonderfully moist.

Light soy sauce: Light soy sauce is fairly thin in consistency and used in dishes in which the natural colour of the ingredients is to be maintained. It’s not to be confused with salt-reduced or low-sodium soy sauces.

Red miso paste: Generally, the darker the miso (fermented soybean paste), the saltier the taste and denser the texture. Red red miso is a deeply flavoured, salty and umami-rich ingredient.

Honey: Sweet golden honey balances the salty, savoury elements in the air fryer salmon marinade, creating a gorgeous glaze that caramelises beautifully.

Broccolini: This nutritious green vegetable absorbs the miso flavours while maintaining a bright colour and slight crunch, for a complete and wholesome meal.

Microwave rice: Using microwave rice makes this air fryer recipe incredibly convenient for busy weeknight dinners, plus it soaks up all those delicious pan juices.

Bean sprouts: Fresh, crisp bean sprouts add a satisfying texture with a mild flavour.

Sugar snap peas: Sweet, crunchy pods bring natural sweetness and vibrant colour to the fresh salad component.

Green onions: Also known as long green onions, spring onions, scallion or (incorrectly) shallot, we use it as both a garnish and flavour enhancer in this air fryer salmon dinner.

Carrots: Unsure how to julienne the carrots for the salad? Follow our easy how-to guide here.
