How to choose a ripe passionfruit
When buying passionfruit, look for fruit that is plump and has some weight to it. According to industry body Passionfruit Australia, when the skin starts to wrinkle it means moisture is being lost to the air ie. the fruit is starting to dry out. “As it wrinkles, the fruit flavour will deteriorate and even start to have a fermented taste,” states its website. So cfhoose smooth skinned fruit if you can.
Can you freeze passionfruit pulp?
Passionfruit freezes well. If you find yourself with an abundance over summer, Passionfruit Australia recommends scraping the pulp into ice cube trays to freeze it into handy portions.
What if I can’t find fresh passionfruit?
If swapping fresh passionfruit pulp for canned in a recipe, remember to reduce the sugar quantity.
