If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that one of the reasons I started posting recipes was to share my family’s dishes and show how losing weight and keeping it off can still include flavorful food. A huge part of my upbringing was centered around Lebanese food. Over the years I’ve found simple ways to make traditional recipes lighter without losing the authentic taste I grew up with. That’s exactly what you’ll find in this shortlist of 20 healthy Lebanese recipes. Wholesome, fresh, and satisfying dishes you can feel good about enjoying any day of the week, for any dietary needs!

Keeping Dishes Healthy
One of the best parts about Middle-Eastern food is how easy it is to keep meals light without losing any of the bold flavors. Simple tweaks can make traditional recipes even more nourishing. For example:
- Instead of deep frying kibbeh or falafel, try baking or air-frying them for the same satisfying crunch with less oil.
- Mujadara (lentils) is already a nutrient powerhouse, but you can swap in brown rice or quinoa for extra fiber.
- Dips like baba ghanoush and hummus can be lightened by cutting back on olive oil or adding extra roasted veggies for volume.
These little adjustments keep your meals lighter while staying true to the authentic flavors you love!

A Lebanese diet is fairly balanced, with veggies being the star of the show. It also consists of protein like lamb or beef, whole grains, healthy fats like olive oil, fresh fruit, and lots of herbs and spices.
Like anywhere, breakfast will vary day to day! But a traditional Lebanese breakfast is often centered around labneh drizzled with olive oil, fresh vegetables, olives, and pita bread.
