There are some fantastic air fryer desserts in this collection. From cannoli to apple pie rolls, plus tarts, cakes and puddings.
The air fryer is far more than an appliance used to cook frozen food such as fries, to crispy perfection. It’s essentially an amped up bench top convection oven, which works by pushing hot air around food. The rapid circulation of air in the confined space helps to make food crisp, just like deep frying, but without all that oil, mess and fuss.
It can be used for roasting and baking. Its major limitation is the interior capacity, so many of your existing cake pans for the oven might not fit. However there are smaller tins and trays now available that have been made with the air fryer in mind. Ensure the dishes you plan to use in your air fryer are heatproof and will fit in the appliance, with room for air to circulate. Avoid anything that is too tall and will come into contact with the top element of the appliance, as this will cause it to burn.
When using the air fryer to bake, avoid very light textured or liquid-y batters, as the vortex created by the appliance is strong enough to make the batter spit or create a volcanic-looking top on your baked item.
Keep an eye on sugary mixtures, as browning these in an air fryer will be accelerated.
